Life Legacy


Regina Ann (Bernhard) Jacobs, 92, widow of the late Paul John Jacobs, died peacefully November 4, 2011, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. She was the beloved matriarch of Anne E. (Ted) Davy, Emily K. (Richard) Lundgren, Philip J. Jacobs, Elaine R. (Joseph) Lahm, Janet M. (James) Shaffstall, Mary Rita Jacobs, Paul J. (Karen) Jacobs, Jr., and John R. Jacobs. She was a proud and loving Oma to Jennifer Davy; Brian (Shweta Chandra) Davy; Rick (Jennifer) Lundgren; Bridget (Dustin) Kabealo; Erin (Scott) Simón; Adam and Eric Lahm; Edan, Loren, and Gregory Shaffstall; Valerie Jacobs (fiance’ to Jamie Miller); and Jason Jacobs. She was an adoring great-grandmother to Miles and Evan Davy, Claire Foé, Madeline Grace and Baby Kabealo, and Jameson Lundgren. She is survived by her dear sisters Margaret Whalen, Harriette Roesch, Florine (Robert) Gulick, sister-in-law M. Patricia Bernhard, and brother-in-law Raymond (Cathleen) Jacobs. She is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by parents Elizabeth (Fox) and J. Louis Bernhard; sisters and brothers Ellen (Joseph) Brosmer, Mary (John) Linville, G. Richard (Patricia) Bernhard, Louis Bernhard; brothers-in-law Robert Whalen, Louis Roesch, Herman (Mary Kay) Jacobs, Elmer (Loretta) Jacobs, and Joseph Jacobs. Regina was born February 13, 1919, in Columbus. She was a graduate of Holy Rosary High School and St. Mary of the Springs College. She married her beloved husband Paul in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1944. She was one of the founding members of Christ the King Catholic Church, a member of Christ the King Women’s Club, and a former Eucharistic minister. She was a charter member of Brace IV, the Franklin County Society for Crippled Children, and the Mt. Carmel Hospital Auxiliary. She was a lifetime member of The Elizabethan Guild and was active for many years in The Diocesan Child Guidance Center. She was a former member of the Ohio Dietetic Association, the Edelweiss Damenchor of The Swiss Club, and the Damen Sektion of the Columbus Maennerchor. She served as vice-president of the Denzare Dance Club. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., with a rosary service at 7 p.m. at Maeder-Quint and Tiberi Funeral Home, 1068 S. High Street, Columbus. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2011, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 2777 E. Livingston Ave, Columbus, with Msgr. Frank Lane presiding. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S. High St., Lockbourne, OH. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Community Kitchen, Inc., 640 S.
